Let the table show its hand first
Players acting later see checks, bets, and raises before choosing. That information reduces guesswork, exposes weakness, and helps them select better bet sizes.
The button is the strongest postflop position. The blinds are the hardest because they usually act first after the flop despite receiving a preflop discount.
Control the price of the decision
In position, you can check behind to control the pot, bet when an opponent shows weakness, or extract another street of value. Out of position, those choices carry more uncertainty.
- Play more hands from the cutoff and button than early position.
- Defend blinds selectively; the discount does not erase the disadvantage.
- Use position to call with hands that can improve or bluff later.
- Out of position, prefer hands that make strong, clear combinations.
